Anyone know how to get rid of excessive phlem caught in throat?

I had a cold, I think that it is gone. Since, I have had this really nasty mucus caught in my throat. I need to get rid of it. It is driving me absolutely crazy. I have tried Nyquil, Dayquil, Robotussin and every cough drop imaginable. Please, please help.
