Animal memorial tattoo ideas?

My beloved dog ped away this week and I want to get a tattoo in her memory. What I originally wanted with her name (Lill) in pretty cursive and the ending L connecting to a dog bone. I went to a tattoo shop last night and the artist didn't draw anything I liked. He just keep telling me that what I wanted wasn't going to look good in a year. So I was wondering if anyone had any ideas because I'm trying to have the tattoo ready when I go back. I want it small maybe about a 1 1/2 long. Any other ideas?
